Hustle Series I and II

Production Summary

HustleHot on the heels of the hugely successful Spooks came Hustle, a high-velocity series for BBC ONE following the fortunes of a group of London con artists. Series one made its stylish British debut to great acclaim in 2003 with series two due to hit British screens in Spring 2005. International interest in the sophisticated swindlers has been high, with broadcasting rights sold in territories as diverse as Italy, France, Russia, Israel, Germany and the Netherlands. The team comprises Mickey - master of the dying art of the long con and godfather of the gang, Danny – young, hungry and determined to prove he’s got what it takes, Albert – the best in the business at identifying the ‘mark’, Ash – a seasoned con artist and expert ‘fixer’ and beautiful, streetwise Stacie. Their first rule of law is: ‘You can’t con an honest man’.

Nomination for Royal Television Society Design and Craft Awards 2004 – Design and Craft Innovation – Production Team, Bharat Nalluri and Nexus

“"There is almost a filmic confidence about it, a
chutzpah you only normally see in films...From the opening titles to the costumes, it looks amazing, almost retro, and its opening sequence featuring a shiny-bright London is positively giddy...It might not be about the dance, but Hustle certainly has a spring in its step."
The Guardian

“Cool or what?" Radio Times

“Pure entertainment” Sydney Morning Herald"

"Hustle is the most surprising and purely enjoyable new British drama series in years." Daily Telegraph"

"Will have you clinging to your Prada purse for days afterwards...Good, gripping fun" - Heat

“Glossy production techniques, sharp scripts and even sharper acting” Sunday Telegraph - Australia

“Oozes quality from every pore" TV Guide

"It is made by the same team that made Spooks and it shows...It is defiantly high-concept, tightly plotted, knowing stuff. In short, Hustle is a laugh; slick, glossy and smart certainly, but a laugh all the same...what really makes Hustle sing is the casting.” The Observer

"A sure ratings success...Hustle is a confidence trick we'll all probably fall for." Sunday Telegraph - UK

"Immoral stylish fun pitched perfectly for the Noughties." Observer

"Every so often, there is a radical shift in popular television. Someone takes a look at what's been happening, decides they don't like it and heads off in a completely new direction. This is what happened with Spooks, the shiny fast-paced series about MI5, and it's happening again with Hustle." Sunday Times
